Last year was a wonderful year for our agencies! They worked on so many fantastic projects, from books to clothing, to tarot cards, and more. As we look ahead to 2023, we wanted to wrap up 2022 with some of the agency’s most memorable projects. It’s not easy narrowing it down, but here are Advocate Art agent, Vickie Savanella’s most memorable projects of 2022.
1. The Wise Men Who Found Christmas
Illustrator: Diane LeFayer
Publisher: Sophia Institute
“The author, Raymond Aroyo, has such vivid, imaginative descriptions in mind and clear ideas of what he wanted the illustrations to look like, so seeing them come to life through Diane’s illustrations was amazing! She has a real knack for transforming abstract thoughts and emotions into magnificent imagery!”
2. Harvest Days
Illustrator: Martina Peluso
Publisher: Barefoot Books
“I actually learned a lot about different celebrations and harvest festivals around the world by working on this project! The final illustrations have such a happy, jubilant feel and really make you want to celebrate!”
Illustrator: Evelline Andreya
Publisher: Science Naturally
“I love earth science so this title was particularly fun, but the best part was that the client was so complimentary of Evelline’s lively and colorful artwork right from the very beginning. Both the client and the artist genuinely enjoyed working on this project and I think it shows when you see the finished product!”
4. Edgar Alen Poe Tarot Cards
Illustrator: Alessandro Valdrighi
Publisher: The Book Shop Ltd.
“I got so excited every time I’d see new artwork come through for this one! Alessandro really took an already cool project idea and leveled it up to create one of the most macabre, badass tarot decks on the market! It was a fun mashup between classic literature and novelty!”
5. Evin’s Day at the Zoo
Illustrator: Pablo Pino
Publisher: Mascott Books for the Harsell Foundation
“This one really held a special place in my heart because the story was so personal to the authors. Evin is a little boy in a wheelchair who’s based on the author’s brother who passed away. I think Pablo’s beautiful illustrations gave the story and characters the detail and personality that they needed and he was able to infuse a level of humor into the story that hit all the right notes! One of the sweetest manuscripts to cross my desk this year!”
