Artist Spotlight: Carlos Vielba

Published on 21/03/2022

Artistique takes a closer look at the conceptual and whimsical world of Carlos Vielba, based in Spain, who specialises in 3D illustrations for advertising.
He has a strong background in Commercial management, marketing and advertising as well as postgraduate studies in Motion graphics, and a master’s degree in V-Ray. He has experience working as an art director for some major advertising agencies and private companies.
We asked Carlos about his process, inspiration, the challenges he faces and what he enjoys the most:
“I love to investigate the brand itself in order to have all the information in advance before starting to model in 3D. After that I add light and textures, ending up rendering it with Photoshop.
I give a big importance to the first step, looking into the brand and its visual assets in order to create something interesting and personal but keeping in mind that it has to always be in line with the brand.
I’ve always liked working on personal projects, so I’ve got a lot of previous projects thanks to speculative works that brands have taken for campaigns after my proposal. This is the case of brands like Vans, Cinelli or the skate brand Metropollie.”
And the results in those cases are spectacular creations as you can see in the pictures accompanying this article.
We couldn’t agree more with Carlos, when he says that all the art direction before the creation of the illustrations is as important as the illustrations themselves. In his case you will not only get an artist, but an art director as well.
Although Carlos primarily works on advertising projects, he also creates other stunning illustrations for other uses such as editorial or books. We are sure that your projects will shine with their own light and stand out from the rest of your competitors with Carlos’ mind-blowing, hyper-realistic yet conceptually charged 3D creations.
