Illo Artist, Laura K Sayers, Longlisted for AOI World Illustration Awards!

Published on 07/06/2023

We are so excited that Illo Agency artist Laura Sayers’s miniature ‘Simmer Dim Series’ has been longlisted for the World Illustration Awards!

Her work stands alongside some great entries for the Exploration category. Laura has described this as showing the joy of a self initiated personal project. Well deserved and wonderful to celebrate these tiny pieces made last year.

Laura is an English illustrator and paper artist based in Scotland. Her distinctive way of working, which involves a simple pair of scissors and a lot of layers of paper, developed in her time at art school, and since then she’s been honing her skills and seeing where the paper will take her next. Through making bold images that focus on color, scale, and shape she has worked on a host of projects with writers, musicians, paper makers, dancers, animators, and magicians, with particular clients including the V&A Museum, HP, and Puffin Books.

She lives in Glasgow with her husband David, working in a little studio in a beautiful old building that used to be a fish market in the 70s (which thankfully, no longer smells of fish).

She’s a member of the Paper Artist Collective, represented by Illo Agency, and is currently studying part-time on the Children’s Book Illustration MA at Cambridge School of Art.
