When we think about the ever changing landscape of the social media mountains artists must traverse, it can make something as simple as posting on a schedule seem like Mount Everest. Which new app or platform to learn before the market gets too saturated? Which platforms to abandon? Which mountains to climb? – it can all be quite daunting. With all of these big mountains, it may be hard to see the valley in the ranges, a gem of a platform that is utilized by over 458 million users a month to gather ideas, scout out artists, and find like minded communities. Pinterest!
Strategically using Pinterest as a leaping point can help artists find their footholds across platforms and further their reach to many different peaks – not only those on Instagram or X (Formerly Twitter). These three tips may be what you are missing to truly master Pinterest!
1 – Consistency
Consistency is Key – it is something artists have heard time and time again but it rings true, the algorithm prefers accounts that post with semi-consistency. Pinterest Business Analytics shows that it is best to upload new content weekly or every other week. Since content on Pinterest is persisting, there is no need for daily posts, which leads one to the next point.
2 – Quality over Quantity
When working to stand out on any social media platform, many artists assume that quantity is the only way to get noticed, and while this may be true on Instagram or TikTok, it is the opposite on Pinterest. Due to the evergreen nature of the platform, having high-quality content is very important to expanding reach on Pinterest!
3 – Scope out Others
Developing an audience means that, well, an artist has to know who their audience is! By utilizing Pinterest to analyze the audience, reach, and content of other artists’ accounts, artists will be able to reach similar audiences by aligning their topics and content with those of their peers one can find not only a robust audience but a community of like-minded creatives to boost one another up!
Social media can be confusing, analytics and algorithms can be hard to master, but by applying these three tips and tricks to Pinterest, an artist can take themselves from cresting a small hill to scaling the Digital Mountains we are often faced with!
