Last year was a wonderful year for our agencies! They worked on so many fantastic projects, from books to clothing, to tarot cards, and more. As we look ahead to 2023, we wanted to wrap up 2022 with some of the agency’s most memorable projects. It’s not easy narrowing it down, but here are Advocate Art’s Global Manager, Amanda Hendon’s five most memorable projects from 2022.
1. All Moms
Authors: Sarah Kate Ellis, Kristen Ellis-Henderson
Illustrator: Max Rambaldi
Publisher: Little Bee Books
“As someone who has family, and a close childhood friend in the LGBTQ community, this book is so important to me; representation is something that is happening more and more in the publishing industry, and I am so happy to have worked on a title that accurately reflects and represents those closest to me.”
Author: Jocelyn Rish
Illustrator: David Creighton-Pester
Publisher: Running Press Kids
“I am an absolute nerd when it comes to animal factoids, so loving this title was a no-brainer (haha!). David’s humorous and charming artwork brings these brain-teasing facts to life; this title is a worthy successor to its predecessor, Battle of the Butts.”
Author: Emma Pearl
Illustrator: Sara Ugolotti
Publisher: Page Street Kids
“A timeless tale of teamwork under trying circumstances, this beautiful book sends the right message; paired with gorgeous, folktale-esque art by Sara Ugolotti, it’s impossible not to love!”
Author: Jordannah Elizabeth
Illustrator: Chellie Carroll
Publisher: Running Press Kids
“Ask any of my friends, and you’ll know that I kinda sorta love astrology (Libra here!) so of course, I love the message behind this book – making astrology accessible to everyone, and in particular, young Black girls who may not know where to start. Coupled with brilliant illustrations by the amazing Chellie Carroll, this is easily one of my favorite titles I worked on this year.”
Authors: Sarah Albee
Illustrator: Kaja Kajfez
Publisher: Charlesbridge
“History has always been by and large my favorite subject; especially unknown tidbits and figures – my friends generally call me a walking encyclopedia, so of course, I was thrilled that we were able to work on Troublemakers in Trousers! Combined with Kaja Kajfez’s informed and gorgeous artwork, owning this title is a given.”
