Published on 27/01/2023

Last year was a wonderful year for our agencies! They worked on so many fantastic projects, from books to clothing, to tarot cards, and more. As we look ahead to 2023, we wanted to wrap up 2022 with some of the agency’s most memorable projects. It’s not easy narrowing it down, but here are Advocate Art agent, Will Drayson’s most memorable projects of 2022.

1. Billy and the Giant Adventure

Author: Jamie Oliver

Illustrator: Monica Armino

Publisher: Penguin Random House

“I loved working closely with the Penguin team on this one, from the Art Director mentioning a ‘very high profile project’ which he loved Monica’s work for, to hearing it was the one and only Jamie Oliver, to Jamie sharing videos of it on Social media! This is one of the highest-profile books I’ve worked on, and super proud of Monica Armino for being so professional and loved by the Penguin team and Jamie!”

2. 50 Times Football Changed the World

Author: Gary Linekar

Illustrator: Erica Salcedo

Publisher: Penguin Random House

“Another super exciting title with Gary Linekar! This was a super fun title to work on with Erica, I was quite involved with project management so enjoyed watching it unfold with happy clients throughout. She did a great job, and I loved seeing Gary’s illustrated caricature for the first time!”

3. Little People Big Dreams series

Author: Maria Isabel Sánchez Vegara

Illustrators: Sue DowningLirios BouJean ClaudeTeresa Bellón

Publisher: Quarto

“It’s always a joy when another title comes in from this series, I know artists hold them as some of their dream titles, so it’s very lovely when they get a nice surprise email in their inbox! I’m always amazed at how the author Isabel matches our illustrators to the character’s personalities/themes.”

4. The Magnificent Book of Treasures: Ancient Egypt

Author: Philip Steele

Illustrator: Eugenia Nobati

Publisher: Weldon Owen

“I love this series, our artist Eugenia Nobati was a bit of a surprise nonfiction superstar after doing a sample for the publisher! The detail and “soul” she captures in ancient artifacts is insanely impressive.”

5. Does A Bear Poo In The Woods

Author: Jonny Leighton

Illustrator: Mike Byrne

Publisher: Buster Books

“When you are working on a project that genuinely makes you laugh throughout, how can it not stand out as a fave! The great Mike Byrne is always great fun to work with, and the lovely writer and editor of the book Jonny Leighton is always a pleasure.”
