New Signed Artist: Maja Andersen

Published on 21/03/2022

I was born and raised in the U.S. to danish parents, so of coarse I grew up speaking danglish! When I was young, I was given the danish version of “Pippi Longstocking” illustrated by Ingrid Van Nyman. Nyman’s illustrations have been an inspiration to me ever since. After graduating with a BFA from the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, I took a job with Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri. While at Hallmark, I illustrated a variety of greeting cards which included dimensional pop-fold cards. My illustrations also appeared on gift books, packaging and apparel. I recently left Hallmark to pursue freelance illustration. My style of artwork is whimsical in subject matter and textured graphic in style. I also enjoy drawing in line-work with limited color. My inspiration comes from international folk art. My hobbies include drawing on cocktail napkins, flamenco dance lessons and cats!
