Illustrating Spotify Original Kids Podcasts

Published on 14/04/2022

Advocate artists Jean Claude and Patricia Pessoa have teamed up with Spotify on their Original Podcast series titled ‘Deep Blue Sea’ and ‘Garden Keeper Gus’ which launched in February 2022!

Deep Blue Sea is a family-friendly podcast series is perfect for kids aged between 3 and 5 years old, as it takes listeners aboard the giant submarine called Sea Lap Alpha. Once underwater explorers Marina and Reef explore the deep mysteries of the oceans teaching kids about the coolest, cutest, largest, and smallest sea creatures on our planet.

Each episode we meet exciting marine characters of all shapes and sizes, including ‘Mark the Shark’ and ‘Mandy the Mandarinfish’ learning what makes them unique. Another huge aspect of the podcast is about we has humans can aid marine conservation and preservation of the ocean.Jean Claude is the perfect illustrator for this project and was thrilled to be part of the process.

As you can see from the Illustrations below his portfolio was already strong with nautical and marine illustrations which the team at Spotify immediately fell in love with. Once onboard, the world was his oyster creating a host of characters all of which inspire and inform the listener.

Likewise, Patrica’s project Garden keeper Gus is aimed at 3-5 year olds where we follow 6 year old Gus and his squirrel friend Rel as they listen to nature sounds and go on fun adventures in a larger than life garden. This sweet, calming and immersive teaches children about making a bird box, harvesting vegetables and picking pumpkins.
