Introducing Vickie to Advocate’s growing team!

Published on 11/04/2021

Advocate Art is excited to introduce another talented agent, Vickie Savanella! Vickie is a lifelong resident of Westchester County located just outside NYC. Having attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, she holds degrees in both Illustration and Fashion Illustration. After college she went on to work in the fashion industry and then designed Halloween costumes and licensed children’s products for many years! Vickie now lives in Tarrytown, NY in the historic Hudson Valley with her two cats!
We asked her a few questions about her role below:

1. Why did you become an Illustration agent?

I have a background in illustration and have had years of experience working in design and then creative management for children’s costumes and licensed products. As an artist agent, I thought this would be a great way to continue in a creative field while transitioning out of manufacturing to focus more on the art side of things in a sales capacity.

2. What do you love most about the role?
I’m super excited to be part of the expansion of Advocate Art, with a growing team offering more artists and support to clients! I absolutely love that I get to work with such creative people, so I can help match great artists up with their dream clients on a daily basis!

3. What do you hope to accomplish here at Advocate?
I would love to be able to bring more great artwork to the fashion industry! I firmly believe that an illustrator is a fashion designer’s best friend!

4. What have you been up to recently?
Fashion Illustration, watercolors of my cats and tiny, needle felted versions of my friend’s pets are just a few ongoing creative projects that keep me busy!

5. What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’ll take any excuse to be outdoors so hiking and hanging out with my dog at the dog beach are two of my recent favorites! I also love museums and live theater (which I have missed sorely during Covid!).

Advocate Art Gets into Advertising

Everyone is seeing those flat, abstract, colorful characters with oversized, flowing limbs everywhere in advertising today. Two relatable styles are the basis: Corporate Memphis (a postmodern style popular throughout the 1980’s) was revived when Apple changed its visual interface in 2013 (remember when all the apps were super-polished?). And Alegria, (Spanish for ‘Joy’); first developed…
